Gladwyne - Local Author Discussion with Sybil Terres Gilmar

Gladwyne - Local Author Discussion with Sybil Terres Gilmar Online

The Gladwyne Library welcomes Local Author Sybil Terres Gilmar for a discussion about her book, "Rowing Home."

The historical fiction book “Rowing Home” is based on a true story of a family with a college-age rower in Berlin, German and its decision to leave for Palestine in 1935. With the father as a newspaper editor, and the mother, a violinist in the Berlin symphony, the reader is exposed to a rich life and the rowing world prior to World War II that begins to decline as Hitler comes to power

The years from 69 to 89 of the author’s life were devoted to rowing on the Schuylkill River on a nearly daily basis. A visit to Israel in 2019 where she rowed on the Yarkon River with a club founded in 1935 sparked her desire to write the novel.
