Gladwyne- Local Author Discussion with Judith Zalesne
The Gladwyne Library welcomes Local Author Judith Zalesne for a discussion about her book, "Inge’s Story."
"Eighteen years of studying with the same Creutzburg Center adult-education literature professor—and with mostly the same classmates— was a subject worth writing about. But after Inge, our beloved teacher, died, and her reams of autobiography notes and papers were unexpectedly given to me, I knew I had another story to tell: hers.
A keen observer and a talented writer, Inge had written of her life in narratives, letters, essays and poems, none of which she had shared with our class. So, in the 18 years I was rewarded by being in her literature class, I was never aware of the devastating challenges this brilliant, insightful, good-natured teacher had been forced to face. Inge was a woman of wisdom and wit. No wonder she thrived in the world of literature.
Inge is long gone, but as I read her words, I almost sensed she was sitting right next to me. Unknowingly, Inge gave me the gift of truly knowing her. Appropriately, like some literature, this gift keeps giving. I want to share it."
