Gladwyne - Art Exhibition: (The Whimsical Three)
The Whimsical Three by Athina Skevi, Erin Mazzoni, and Delia Tash
The show will run at the Gladwyne Library from November 1st - November 30th. The gallery is on display during the library's hours of operation. The reception will be held on Thursday, November 7th, 6-7:30 PM, on the 2nd floor of the library building.
Athina Skevi, Erin Mazzoni, and Delia Tash are coming together to show the art of nature, animals, and self. Mixed media, acrylic, and charcoal renderings will make up this show. Tash has always been intrigued by animals and landscapes and strives to capture a whimsical element in her paintings. Some paintings in the show have quirky elements, such as an elephant on a chair or a smug flamingo. Much like Tash, Mazzoni's work is a delightful play on nature. From a poodle following the trail of a bumble bee to a big bear on a small mound, the images jump to life. Intriguing the audience with their mixed media substances of flowers and leaves, among other items, they are truly original. Skevi explores personhood and her Greek heritage, among other subjects. These three artists will bring a unique and entertaining style to the Gladwyne Library this November.
About the Authors:
Athina Skevi, Erin Mazzoni, & Delia Tash
Athina Skevi Artist Bio:
Philadelphia-based artist Athina Skevi graduated from Maryland Institute of Art with a BFA in painting in 2014. In June 2024, she was in the Emerging Artist tent at the Manayunk Arts Festival. Skevi's art explores feminism, disability, mental health, and personhood by merging her Greek heritage, traditional textiles, and patterns.
Erin Mazzoni Artist Bio:
Erin Mazzoni has enjoyed making art since she could hold a crayon. Her grandmother also often made mixed-media art when she was a child. She introduced Mazzoni to pressed flower collages along the way, which had made a lasting impression on her. While Mazzoni does make art of various mediums today, she is happy to present part of my "nature art" collection (the others are not on display as they are not yet framed). These works are made of found items in nature that have been preserved and carefully composed into pictures from her imagination.
Delia Tash Artist Bio:
Based in Plymouth Meeting, Delia Tash has been making art for many years. She graduated from the Tyler School of Art in 2004. Tash works primarily in oil, acrylic, and gouache. Inspired by nature and animals, most of her work is made up of this subject. In her first year in art school, Tash "hid" images of rubber ducks in many of her assignments. While not painting, you can find Tash working as a Youth Services Librarian, where she runs a teen art club once a month during the school year.
